Engagement Rings with an Emerald-Cut Diamond
The emerald cut is a step cut with long, parallel facets and an open table. Instead of sparkling fire it offers calm, mirror-like flashes — the "hall of mirrors" effect — and radiates restrained, timeless elegance.
Thanks to its elongated outline it visually lengthens and slims the finger, so it suits slender as well as shorter fingers. It is for anyone who loves clean lines and prefers calm elegance over maximum sparkle.

What makes this shape different
Why the emerald cut
The emerald cut is one of the step cuts: its long, parallel facets create the so-called "hall of mirrors" effect — a series of mirror-like, stepped flashes of light and shadow. Do not expect sparkling fire as in a round brilliant; the emerald cut is calm, clean and elegant, with an emphasis on lines and depth.
This character is appreciated by anyone who loves restrained, timeless elegance and architecturally clean shapes. Its elongated rectangular outline also visually lengthens and slims the finger, so the emerald cut looks beautiful on slender as well as shorter fingers. If you are torn between it and an even more geometric square design, take a look at the related Asscher cut.
What to prioritise in an emerald cut (the 4Cs)
The open table and large, undisturbed facets are beautiful, but they also act as a window into the heart of the diamond — inclusions and any hint of tint are more visible here than in brilliant cuts, which "break up" small imperfections with their sparkle. With the emerald cut we therefore recommend not economising on clarity: VS2 and above is ideal, where inclusions are invisible to the naked eye.
Likewise, a colour grade one step higher pays off — the open facets reveal any warmer tinge sooner. For a colourless frame (white gold, platinum) we recommend a colour roughly in the D–G range. Conversely, with a step cut you need not rely on brilliance: its charm lies in calm mirror-like flashes, not in fire. For diamonds from 0.30 ct we include an independent GIA, IGI or HRD certificate — for natural as well as lab-grown diamonds.
Which setting and metal suit it
The emerald cut suits a clean, unobtrusive setting best. The classic is a solitaire with four prongs, which lets the elongated outline and open facets shine. A three-stone style also suits it very well — a centre stone complemented by two side stones (for example smaller emerald cuts or trapezoids) — underlining its architectural elegance. A halo of tiny diamonds visually adds size if you want a more pronounced effect.
With the metal, it depends on the colour of the diamond. White gold and platinum emphasise the purity and coolness of a colourless diamond; warmer yellow or rose gold lends the ring a softer, vintage tinge and, with a diamond of a slightly warmer colour, naturally harmonises the metal and the tone. We always tailor our recommendation to the specific diamond during the consultation.
