Gray Diamonds

Grey diamonds take their colour mainly from hydrogen incorporated during crystal growth — and in some stones from trace boron, the same element that colours blue diamonds — absorbing broadly across the spectrum to give a neutral grey rather than a saturated hue. They span light silver to deep steel and slate, and an even, well-distributed grey free of a brown or green cast is far scarcer than the tone alone suggests. Evenness and purity of the grey are the real value drivers here, and a GIA report confirming natural origin is essential, because grey is readily induced by treatment.
