Lab-Grown Red Diamonds

Lab-grown red diamonds are produced through intensive multi-step post-growth treatment: irradiation followed by annealing at specific temperatures builds high concentrations of nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centres whose absorption profile yields a red bodycolour — the same colour mechanism as the world's rarest natural diamonds. Treatment is permanent and fully disclosed; GIA grades these stones simply as Fancy Red, as no Fancy Light or Fancy Vivid red designation is applied in practice. Even in lab-grown production, true red is the scarcest fancy colour category and commands a substantial premium.
