Natural Brown Diamonds

Brown diamonds arise from plastic deformation of the crystal lattice — the same mechanism as pink and red, but with more pervasive distortions that produce broad absorption across the visible spectrum rather than a focused hue. As the most common natural fancy colour, brown represents the most accessible entry into the fancy colour market. Saturation and hue character drive value; trade names such as 'Champagne' and 'Cognac' reflect the breadth of character within the family.
