Natural Orange Diamonds

Orange colour in natural diamonds arises from nitrogen-related defects in the crystal lattice, including an absorption feature near 480 nm — a mechanism that shares yellow's nitrogen origin but produces saturated orange far less consistently. Pure orange without a secondary yellow or brown modifier is among the rarest natural diamond colours; the Pumpkin Diamond (5.54 ct, Fancy Vivid Orange) is the most celebrated unmodified example. Saturation and modifier absence are the twin value drivers.
