Lab-Grown Brown Diamonds

Lab-grown brown diamonds are among the few lab-grown fancy colours that arise as-grown: rapid CVD synthesis at commercially viable growth speeds creates vacancy clusters and lattice defects that absorb across the visible spectrum, producing warm champagne to deep cognac tones without any deliberate post-growth colour treatment. Most CVD diamonds undergo HPHT treatment to remove this brown, but brown stones are presented to market in their as-grown state. Depth and intensity of colour — from Fancy Light Brown through Fancy Deep — remain the primary value signals.
